Timetable of Celebrations

Centenary of the death of Bishop Elzear Torreggiani
Provincial Gathering 16th – 19th February 2004

Tuesday 17

The morning and afternoon secessions on Tuesday 17 will be animated by the Minister General Minister who will be presenting an image or picture of the Order as it exists today and the steps being taken in preperation for the 7 CPO which will be discussing our Fraternal Life in Minority "as pilgrims and strangers in this world serving the Lord in poverty and humility." This should provide an excellent opportunity for renewal for each friar and our whole Province. After the evening meal there will be a presentation from three guest speakers sponsored by the Armidale Heritage Council and the official launching of the biography of Bishop Torreggiani written by Br. Patrick Colbourne.

Wednesday 18

A visit to the Mortuary Chapel and grave sites of the friars and other prominent figures associated with Torreggiani. A Paraliturgical celebration will be held while at the Armidale Cemetery. A tour will then take us to Mallam House, the original residence of Bishop Torreggiani, and to the Ursuline Convent purchased for the Nuns by the bishop. The evening Eucharistic Celebrations in the Cathedral with the Bishop and representatives of the Armidale diocese will be the highlight of the Centenary celebrations. 

Visitors

Apart from the Minister General and our Definitor General, Br. Joseph Nacua we will have three overseas visitors joining us fro the celebrations. A Definitor from the Marches Province (Ancona) and the Archivist Br. Renato Lupi will be representing Bishop Torregiani Province of origin and Br. Anthony McDowell from the province of Great Britain - representing the jurisdiction where Bishop Elzear worked before coming to Australia. Error processing SSI file
