- Who
Are the Capuchins?
|
NewsOrdinations of Brothers Henry Paul and Anthony Tung Nguyen Both Henry and Anthony Tung celebrated their masses of thanksgiving on the Sunday. The liturgies of Ordination were very beautiful and joyful occasions. The choirs of St. Anthony’s and the Vietnamese choir excelled themselves in their ministry of music. A large contingent of Capuchins, family and friends came from all over the country to celebrate with Brs. Henry and Anthony Tung. Br Tung is the first Vietnamese to join the Capuchins in Australia and is only the second Vietnamese Capuchin in history to be ordained to the priesthood. Anthony Tung’s parents live in Springvale, Melbourne. He has two brothers and one sister living in Melbourne and one brother who is a Dominican friar based in Canberra. Henry lived in Millicent, South Australia and was a very active member on his parish council and with the Secular Franciscan Order before he entered the Capuchin Franciscan Friars. He has a brother living in Melbourne. After a short holiday Br Henry will be assigned to the new Capuchin Hermitage Friary which is being established in early 1998. Br Anthony Tung will begin his priestly ministry as a National Vocation Director for the Capuchin Friars. He will be based in the Provincial Curia Friary in Leichhardt, Sydney. We offer our heartfelt prayers to Henry and Tung that they may be blessed with a long and fruitful ministry as Capuchin priests. We now look forward to Br John Spiteri’s ordination to the Priesthood in July of 1998. 30 December 1997 Archived News items:2001
