CAPUCHIN PROVINCIAL ASSEMBLY
In the week of 6th - 10th July almost all the Capuchins of the Province
of Australia gathered together for an Assembly at our friary in Plumpton, Sydney.
Assemblies are something we do every three years as a way of strengthening
the bonds of fraternity in a Province where the friars live great distances
from each other.
This Assembly was a particularly blessed one in which each friar celebrated
his vocation and gave thanks to God for his call. Each of the friars recounted
how they came to be Capuchin Franciscans, as well as recounting their experiences
of Capuchin living and ministry.
This gave us a great opportunity to tape these many and varied stories for
posterity.
One of our new postulants (1st year) for next year, Shane Higoe, was also
present for the Assembly - a wonderful beginning for his Capuchin life.
The Assembly culminated with Br John Spiteri's ordination to the Priesthood
- a beautiful and fitting end to such a gathering.
Once the stories of the friars have been transcribed from tape, and edited
by the friar, they will appear on this web site.
