News1999 POSTULANCY BEGINS!On 13th February 1999 our three new Postulants, Lam Vu, Nathan McKay and Shane Higoe began their year of Postulancy with a liturgy of welcome. Nathan, Shane and Lam had an auspicious start to their first year with both the Provincial and our Definitor General from Rome present to celebrate with them and the St. Laurence fraternity. Postulancy is the first year on the journey to becoming a Capuchin Francisan Friar. It is a time when the candidates are able to experience our life of prayer, ministry and fraternity in a much more intense way - by actually living it with us! During this year the Postulants will also do some classes in basic liturgy, theology and also begin their studies of Capuchin Franciscan Spirituality. However the main thrust of the year will be for them to experience our life through being part of our fraternity and by supervised experience of different ministries. They will reflect and share with each other and their Postulant Director on how this experience is shaping/challenging their sense of call and their relationship with God. At the end of the Postulancy, if they feel confirmed in their call, and if the fraternity also feels the same way, they will then apply to begin their twelve month novitiate. We ask you to keep Nathan, Lam and Nathan in your prayers as they continue the discernment of God's call in their lives. 13 Feb 1999 Archived News items:2001
