Catechesis Events
Wednesday to Friday, 16 to 18 July
9am to 12pm
Registered pilgrims will participate in Catechesis from Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 July 2008 at 9.00am-12.00pm OR 10.00am-1.00pm.
Catechesis is sharing and learning about faith and life. Catechesis begins in the morning with prayer, song, teaching, questions and discussions. It concludes with the celebration of the Eucharist and lunch.
Catechesis will be conducted in a variety of languages and will be held in over 250 different locations throughout Sydney. The three days of Catechesis are centred on the Holy Spirit and mission in the light of the Pentecost event. The central theme is developed over three mornings in the following stages:
- Called to live in the Holy Spirit
- The Holy Spirit, soul of the Church
- Sent out into the world: the Holy Spirit, the principal agent of mission
The Catechesis program:
- Welcome to pilgrims
- A short introduction to the Catechesis which might include music, drama or testimony
- Reconciliation - before and after the Bishop's talk
- Catechesis from the Bishop
- A coordinated discussion and opportunity for questions
- A time of silence for reflection which may include guided adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
- Short break
- Mass
